Most of these pieces were available through UCR's California Museum of Photography as curator Ed Earle was a pioneer encouraging web experimentation. My interests involved how one reads/interacts with "hypertext", the relationship of the viewer to the screen, and image/text context. Some of these pieces are linked (*). Random Profiles (1997)
10 women: Biographies and Portraits randomly matched. This version is minus the original server side random function when featured at the California Museum of Photography site, UC Riverside.
() Exile (1997, 2005)
A web narrative using Wendy Bishop's found poem (V-Mail) culled from her father's wartime correspondence mixed with altered maps and found illustrations. The viewer traverses a long horizontal map with images, text and hyperlinks. To proceed linearly, click on the arrow icons. This web version is adapted from a 1997 print-based piece where the text is scattered throughout an altered map.
()Trilogy (2001): Two Brothers, Remote Wilderness, War Story
"Circular fiction" by noted L.A. writers Kate Haake, Rod Moore, (and this artist) -- with found images. (Two Brothers originally was constructed as a sequential installation of 45 images; War Story is based on a print from my War Comics series). Two Brothers was published in the online web magazine Drunken Boat #6.
